How We Got Here

In over 15 years of working with frontline staff who face difficult, distressed, and dangerous behavior, I've witnessed firsthand how a prepared staff can perform well and respond to challenging circumstances in their jobs.


If you deal with people every day, managing conflict becomes a necessity.


I became involved in this work because of my love of public transit. Upon closer observation, I saw the power of training and preparation in helping the frontline transit workers, who are both backbone and face of the system they serve, to stay safe at work and to ultimately be more successful in performing their duties, working well with their colleagues and the public they serve to create positive outcomes.


Transit Experience Group has a reach of over 20 public transit agencies in the US, and that reach is expanding rapidly. We've also begun developing online and in-person training for international public transit agencies. 


Most importantly, we have learned that teaching one overarching approach to conflict resolution and de-escalation is most effective when the content is created and taught with the specific end user in mind. 


To ensure the success of the program, our interactive scenarios have been specifically tailored for transit workers, which results in a much more effective training and minimizes participants losing interest and focus because many examples do not closely address the types of situations that transit workers will face.  


By presenting loosely related scenarios and situations with the main concepts, we've seen a noticeable decrease in participants' grasp of the material, and an opposite increase in participant dissatisfaction increases training time. 


This increase in training time delays the transit worker's return to service and thereby reduces potential revenue and productivity, resulting in a negative hit to the bottom line. Negative impact on the bottom line in any business is always an issue. In a public agency where budgets rule everything, negative impacts on the bottom line are especially taboo!


To ensure we always deliver the best content in a curriculum that will ensure a participant's success, we bring together in one package, specifically tailored for the transit worker.


Why go to the corner gas station for a repair and risk getting a mediocre job (or worse) when, for the same money, you can go to a specialist familiar with the nuances of your vehicle?
